OSBOURN PARK HIGH SCHOOL BAND PROGRAM

AUDITION INFORMATION

Auditions for the Wind Ensemble will be held during the month of May 2010. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Wind Ensemble next year you must audition due to the limited number of available spaces.

The word "Audition" can sometimes make people feel uneasy but the main purpose is to determine if a student has the tone and technical range necessary to play the music that the band will be performing.

Students who would like to be in band but do not wish to audition, may join the Concert Band or Percussion Ensemble.

Auditions will be held by appointment in the OPHS Band room for the Wind Ensemble Program

Audition dates are:

May 11^th from 2:00-6:00 p.m.

May 25^th from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

*Other times can be arranged by email or phone call.

Auditions--Students will play the following:

SCALES- Students must play two Major Scales and the Chromatic

scale (play from as low as you can to as high as you can). District requirements preferred.

PREPARED ETUDE-Students will be asked to play a prepared etude normally this years “All-County Audition Etude”. Music is available below. If students have a piece they would also like to play for the director, please do.

SIGHT-READING- Students will have a BRIEF sight-reading example to play.
